Here is my Hasegawa 1/72 Scale Beaufighter TF X, Kit # 51214 (CP14)
Modifications
-
I used the Aires Cockpit Interior,
Set # 72-7038
-
the Aft wing navigation lights were
faired over painted;
-
nose gun camera was scratch built &
substituted to match photos of the actual aircraft, as was the
unusual light colored painting of the cowl flaps on the starboard
engine

Otherwise the kit is built straight from the box. I really do not
understand why we don’t see the Hasegawa 1/72 Beaufighters built up more
often as they are great kits!
Exhaust
fairing & cowl rings painted with Testor's enamel mix of rust, brass &
black. All other colors custom mixed from Tamiya acrylics, post shaded
and panel faded.
Flat coat is Future mixed with Tamiya Flat Base
Decals are from various sources:
-
Serial Number modified from kit
decals,
-
Code letters from Techmod Dull Red
RAF Code Letters sheet (over masked white painted areas)
-
Fuselage Roundels and Fin Flash from
Eagle Strike; Upper wing Roundels from Modeldecal

After assembly, the canopy was brush pained by hand with Future
acrylic floor polish and left to dry. This resulted in a smooth clarity
in the kit transparency, allowing at least a portion of the wonderful
Aires cockpit interior to be seen.
The model won a Second Place in the 1/72 scale multi engine medium
propeller category at the 2007 IPMS USA Nationals in Anaheim,
California.
