Description

Xtrakit's 1/72 scale Meteor T.Mk.7 is available online from Hannants for £10.20 (export) or £11.73 (EU).

This is my recently finished Xtrakit Meteor T.7 in 1/72 scale. The model was built as an Israeli Air Force trainer from the "Knights of the North" squadron. They mainly operated the Vautour but used three Meteors as twin engine trainers during the late 1960s.

The model is very similar to the Xtrakit Meteor F.8 (my Danish painted F.8 one can be seen on some of the photos) and is an easy and enjoyable build. Mine is very close to "out of the box", minor improvements were made to the seats and landing gear. Elevators and rudders were also modified to add a bit of life to the model.

The israeli camouflage was painted using my own mixes of Gunze acrylics.

Decals come from IsraDecal and work excellently. The down side is that there are a few very obvious decals used on the trainers missing, among them the black markings showing the footsteps on the fuselage side and the number "15" from the nose gear door (that I haven't added yet by the way...). The footstep markings are easily added using thin slices of decal film while I am still elaborating over that number "15".
