Here is my SBD-6 Dauntless “2” of VMSB-231.
The model is the Hasegawa in 1/72 scale.
The cockpit has been detailed using the Eduard photoetched Zoom set (instrument panels, pilot rudder pedals, gunner seatbelts and rear gun armor plates). The pilot seatbelts are taken from the Eduard pre-paint set for the P-47. The gun sight comes from the Quickboost set.
Apart from that, all other added details are built from scratch. The canopy has been vacuformed using the original parts as masters (after each single section has being separated).
Concerning the exterior, I used the specific Eduard set to reproduce the flaps while the exhausts are form Quickboost. Other work has been devoted to improve the Cyclone engine and to scratchbuild the two yagi ASB radar antennas under the wings.
I also used “Rosie the riveter” tool to reproduce the rivets effect on the surface of the model.
The model has been painted using Gunze acrylic colors. As for the national insignas, they come from the Techmod decal sheet (the decals in the box were quite aged and on the yellow side).
Thanks for looking and happy modeling.
