Description

Here is an image of my latest aviation art that is available through my website.

With 2010 marking the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, I am pleased to to commemorate this occasion with this offering. Entitled "Widge", it is an "inflight portrait" of Flight Lieutenant Ian Richard Gleed, smiling back at the viewer from the cockpit of his Hawker Hurricane Mk-1a, Serial P2798. The scene depicts him during the period after 15 August 1940, when he was appointed as Acting Squadron Leader of No. 87 Squadron, somewhere over England after the height of the Battle of Britain.

As a matter of due course he was promoted to Squadron Leader on Christmas Eve of 1940, thus attaining the grade of rank commensurate with his position.

These 13" x 19" prints are available in an edition limited to 250, signed & numbered by the artist for $35.00 each plus shipping through my website at http://www.jamesgreenfineart.com/
