Model Alliance Decals, 1/72 & 1/48

Model Alliance has produced another excellent decal sheet depicting Lockheed Martin F-16 A/B Block 15 ADF aircraft of the Royal Thai Air Force in the 20 year special scheme for 102 Squadron “Starfighters” and 103 Sqn “Lightning”.  The decals are available in both 1/72 scale MAS-729042 and 1/48 scale MAS-489042.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Model Alliance Decals in the past has been that the decals will snuggle down into the surface detail well with careful handling.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

The two schemes provided are as follows:

1. Lockheed Martin F-16 A/B Block 15 ADF of 103 Sqn “Lightning” of the Royal Thai Air Force based at Korat Air Force Base.  The aircraft is finished in FS 36270 Neutral Grey lower surfaces and FS 36118 Gunship Grey upper surfaces.  The fin has a striking tiger on a black and orange background with a white lightning stripe.  The words “20th Anniversary” are in gold”.  The lower dorsal fins have tiger stripes painted on them.

2. Lockheed Martin F-16 A/B Block 15 ADF 10311 of 102 Sqn “Starfighters” of the Royal Thai Air Force.  The aircraft is finished in FS 36270 Neutral Grey lower surfaces and FS 36118 Gunship Grey upper surfaces.  The fin has a striking tiger on a blue and black background with white stars.  The words “20th Anniversary” are in gold”.  The lower dorsal fins have tiger stripes painted on them.
