Xtradecal has released another fine quality decal sheet depicting the three English Electric Lightning F.6 aircraft schemes for aircraft based at 5 Sqn based at RAF Binbrook in the final grey camouflage schemes.
The decals are superbly printed and they have good colour saturation and are in perfect register. As usual with Xtradecals, the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience is that they will snuggle down into the surface detail well with the carrier film almost totally disappearing under a coat of clear.
The three schemes provided are as follows:
-
EE(BAC) Lightning F.6, XS933/AJ of No 5 Sqn based at RAF Binbrook in 1986 – 87. This aircraft is finished in BS381C:638 Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces and BS381C:626 Camouflage Grey under surfaces. A green maple leaf with Sqn colour pennants on each side is painted on the tail fin. The national roundels are in the pale blue and pink scheme.
-
EE(BAC) Lightning F.6, XS935/AK of No 5 Sqn based at RAF Binbrook in 1986 – 87. This aircraft is finished in BS381C:637 Medium Sea Grey upper surfaces and BS381C:626 Camouflage Grey under surfaces. A green maple leaf green maple leaf inside the red number five is painted on the tail fin. The national roundels are in the pale blue and pink scheme and Sqn colour pennants on each side of the nose roundel.
-
EE(BAC) Lightning F.6, XS903/AM of No 5 Sqn based at RAF Binbrook in late 1984. This aircraft is finished in BS381C:637 Medium Sea Grey upper surfaces and BS381C:626 Camouflage Grey under surfaces. A green maple leaf with Sqn colour pennants on each side is painted on the tail fin. The national roundels are in the pale blue and pink scheme. A large colour shark’s mouth is painted on the lower nose.
Walkway and trestle lines are provided but no data decals are supplied with this sheet as these are available separately on Xtradecals sheet No X32-019.
