Here is my 1/72 scale CMR Jet Provost.
Except for adding colored tip-tank lenses, it is out of the box. Cockpit detail is superb, but difficult to photograph due to the narrow opening of the canopy—1/4-inch (6.4mm).
The real aircraft was finished in standard British paints of the day, High Speed Silver with the shortlived DayGlo Orange, thus I did not replicate a natural metal finish, rather a painted aluminum lacquer finish. I used Model Master Aluminum Non-Buffing Metalizer coated with Metalizer Sealer for the overall color. The DayGlo is Model Master FS28915 Fluorescent Red.
To reduce the intensity of the DayGlo I faded the red-orange by overspraying highly thinned white on areas of the DayGlo, then airbrushed M. Graham & Co. semi-transparent Hansa Yellow artists’ oil on top of the whitened areas. More of the Hansa Yellow was then gently misted over of the topside DayGlo.
To reduce glare from the fine panel lines I applied a pin-wash of Model Master Acryl German Uniform Gray.
The colorful Jet Provost makes a nice addition to my 1/72 collection of mostly camouflaged aircraft.
