Academy's 1/48 scale MiG-29A is available online from Squadron
This plane was operated by East Germany.
It is a MiG-29UB of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) .
The Model:
This is the Academy MiG-29UB in 1/48 scale.
It is an injected moulded kit in grey plastic with recessed panel lines and crisp rivets.
It is true that this is by far the best kit of Fulcrum in 1/48 scale. However, it has three major flaws: its very poor cockpit detail,
its poor fit (especially the front) and very poor decals.
Aftermarket:
My model includes the following aftermarket items:
-
2 Aires K-36DM ejection seats .
-
Eduard Photoetch exterior ED48429
-
Eduard ED48423 interior photo-etch
-
Eduard Photoetch stairs and walkways ED48437
-
Part interior photogravure S48-023
-
Hi-HD48015 decals Decals
-
Authentic Decals Stencils AD4804
Version:
Corresponds to the last operational camouflage before German reunification.
It is a gray outline appears in mid-1990, this
belongs to the fighter wing No. 3 "Vladimir Komarov."
Operational History
East Germany received 20 MiG-29s and four MiG-29UB from May 1988, 32 more were on order when the two Germanys were reunited,
why the order was canceled. Fulcrums were subsequently absorbed by the Luftwaffe.
Since the MiG-29 was not a standard aircraft for the Luftwaffe, maintenance was difficult and the last MiG-29 was decommissioned in
2006. All the survivors were handed over to Poland, except one, which was donated for display at the Luftwaffe Museum in Berlin.
Construction
The assembly was a challenge, first because it was the first time you work with resin and photo-etched in large numbers, I had many
problems with the fit of the instrument panels, as photogravures are made only for single-seat version of the Fulcrum, the which has
a much larger section of the UB, which is why I had to adjust and use part of the photogravures acquired.
The Aires seat is really a jewel. The rear seat had to cut about 4 mm at its base and that did not fit to close the dome and this was too high.
Turn to scratch add wires and hydraulic lines, also manufactures various models with residual drag the yellow car!
As usual base is made of wood, cardboard and grass for models!
Paint:
It is painted with Humbrol and Model Master enamels, he applied various filters and washes, and finally apply enguarrín pastel chalk.
