Hasegawa's 1/48 scale
F-104G Starfighter
by Andy Brown
Hasegawa's 1/48 scale F-104G Starfighter is available online from Squadron
The F-104 Starfighter is without doubt my favourite fighter aircraft and of the huge number of camouflage schemes that adorned it during 46 years of service, there are few to beat the sinister looking Norm 83 Scheme. Norm 83 was a 3-colour wrap-around camouflage applied during the latter part of the type's service with the Luftwaffe and similar in appearance to the USAFEs European 1 scheme.
The model was made from the lovely Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit with the addition of a Cutting Edge resin cockpit and the Victory Productions decal sheet (48-003).
I used Vallejo acrylic paints throughout the build and added numerous minor scratch built items, such as the pitot tube, the AoA vanes, the ejection seat firing handle and the canopy detailing.
Larger format images of the model can be viewed in Geoff Coughlin's Scale Modelling Now Magazine (www.scalemodellingnow.com) in the next couple of weeks.
