Maestro Models continue to provide modellers with intriguing and unique weapons in 1/72 scale; this time with the Bombkapsel m/90, a standoff gliding submunition dispenser, which can be carried by the SAAB Viggen and Gripen. Also known as the BK 90 Mjolner, this Swedish Air Force weapon is of German origin and is intended for low-level release at high speed for a maximum range of 10 km.
This set makes one dispenser and consists of five pieces finely cast in resin. The bomb’s entire body forms the largest piece and the two pairs of tail fins complete the offering. Removal of the components from the stubs should present no problems, especially if the modeller is mindful of the tiny locating pins moulded with each fin. Assembly using cyanoacrylate glue should be equally straightforward.
The instructions include two small but clear photos to guide the fins’ placement and orientation. There is no guidance on what colour to paint the bomb and no decals are provided; the modeller will have to do their own research and work in this regard.
Maestro Models have yet again catered for small scale modellers of modern Swedish aircraft and their weapons; this set will add interest to your Viggen or Gripen.
Highly Recommended.
