Signifer is based in France. They have a very wide range of products and detail sets for model kits is but one of the arrows in their quiver.

Amongst their latest batch of releases is SN32006 which provides a set of resin aftermarket wheels for the North American P-51 Mustang in 1/32 scale.

The set comprises five resin parts and a coil of small diameter lead wire that enables you to replicate the hydraulic brake piping used on the one-to-one-scale P-51.

The parts are cast in a very hard mid-grey shade of resin that come supplied already separated from their casting plugs.

The casting is very good on my sample and I could not find a single pin-hole in any of parts. There is however a fair amount of flash that will need to be removed from the parts before they are ready to be painted – not an onerous task though.

There is a fair amount of detail cast into the parts that you will not notice until they are undercoated. Apart from the obvious diamond tread on the main gear tyres and the circumferential tread on the tail wheel you also get the tyre manufacture’s name (Goodyear) and the bolt/nut and hub details of the wheel rim. The tread detail appears to be a little too pronounced to me but this can be easily rectified with sandpaper. The bottoms of the tyres have subtle bulges indicative of a fully fuelled and armed P-51.

The main wheels are provided in two parts – the tyre incorporating the inner wheel rim and a separate outer wheel rim. This is a good move as it eases the task of cleaning out the flash in the rims.

A small piece of paper with photographs of the kit wheels in place on a kit (kit name is not stated) undercarriage leg to show the placement of the hydraulic line is provided. A further image of the prepared and painted fit parts is also provided on the header card.

Packaging is via a small plastic zip-loc bag stapled to a thin cardboard header card.

A nice little accessory set from Signifer that will provide you with an alternative to the rubber wheels in the Tamiya kit as well as for other less detailed wheels in other 1/32 scale P-51 kits.
