Windsock Worldwide is an A4 sized magazine that caters specifically for WWI aeroplane enthusiasts. Inside are 32 pages crammed with a wealth of information on a broad range of topics.

Providing a tantalizing taste of what‘s to come this year is Josef Scott’s piece on the legendary Fokker Eindecker. In it he dispels many of the myths surrounding this aircraft and compliments the article with an interesting selection of photographs. Look out for his much anticipated “Datafile Special” later this year!

Lance Krieg continues his popular “Modelling Master Class” series and this time he looks at the subject of major assemblies. Many models are ruined during this procedure where the process of aligning struts, wings and fuselage can become quite overwhelming. With a combination of photographs and diagrams, the author takes us through the various jigs, joints and techniques used to accomplish the seemingly impossible.

“Rara Avis” looks at some of the more unusual aircraft designs thanks to general arrangement drawings from the archives of Ian Stair and George Haddow. This issue presents the Hanriot HD.3.C2 and is given a spread of both 1:72 and 1:48 scale plans.

Fans of R/C aircraft will enjoy Ian Turney-White’s 2:3 scale Hanriot HD.1. He gives the reader a rundown on how he built his machine and well as discussing the aircraft’s flying characteristics.

New Zealand based Vintage Aviation Ltd’s latest reproduction is the Fokker D.VIII. This stunning replica even has a meticulously engineered copy of the Oberursel rotary engine, so the performance and weathering of the airframe will be of great interest to enthusiasts. Included are 20 close-up images of the “flying razor” for the reader to digest.

Of course there is the usual roundup of book, kit, and decal reviews, which along with the latest news in the industry make this publication a fine resource for all WWI aircraft enthusiasts.

This is the ideal magazine for those with any interest at all in WWI aviation. It provides articles from authors recognized in their fields and the diversity of material means that there’s something here to please everybody.
