This small set of decals by Maestro enables the modeller to depict a SAAB Lansen of the F6 Wing at Karlsborg in 1977, wearing a (very) temporary sharkmouth on the jet’s right-hand nose and intake.

The instructions reveal the story behind the short-lived marking and include a colour profile of the aircraft with decal placement guide. Oddly, the profile is not of the affected side, so the modeller will have to rely on the two photos of the aircraft and text to complete the model. He or she will also have to finish the sharkmouth by painting the intake lips with a matching red colour.

Decals are provided for the sharkmouth, of course, along with the jet’s serial number, tail code and wing designator and badge. They are all very well printed. The national insignia will however have to be sourced from generic sheets or the kit decals.

Conclusion

This quirky set is perfect for the modeller who’s a fan of the Lansen, Swedish aircraft in general or simply likes a good back-story to one-off and/or short-lived markings.
