Eduard's 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.XVI is available online from Squadron for only USD$54.71!
This one is hot off the modelling bench - Eduard's 1/48 scale Spitfire LF. Mk.XVI. This is Eduard's first bubble top Spitfire and in common with the others in their Spitfire series, it is a sweet kit that just won't stay in the box for long.

Barracuda Studios' Spitfire Mk.IX cockpit upgrade turned up on the same day as the kit, so I used quite a few of its resin parts and cockpit decals on this build. I also used Barracuda's resin one-piece upper cowl (fitted perfectly) and Eduard's BRASSIN three-spoke resin wheels.

Markings, including the striking yellow spiral spinner, are all from the kit's decal sheet. I'm pretty sure I should not have used the yellow dotted canopy "chop" lines on this 1945 subject, but they just looked too interesting.
I had the Eduard Overtrees for an extra low back Spitfire and I was very tempted to slap another one together over the weekend, but sanity eventually prevailed….
Gorgeous kit. See if you can stop at just one!

There will be a detailed write-up in Issue 53 of Military Illustrated Modeller magazine.
Thanks to Eduard for the sample
