Xtradecal continues with their “Yank with Roundels” series by releasing Part 6, covering the Wildcat Mks.IV & V in FAA service.

The decals are supplied in Xtradecal’s usual A5 polythene zip-lock bag. The instructions are nicely produced in colour, and clearly indicate markings placement. A brief note regarding the aircraft and its station location is given for each subject, plus some modeller’s notes where applicable. Unsurprisingly, a list of Xtracolor paint codes is also provided for the colours required. The decals look to be superbly printed by Microscale Decals with crisp registration and excellent colour density.

The set reviewed here covers eight options; all of which are quite appealing in my opinion. The subjects are:

• Mk.IV, FN121/0-9Z, 888 NAS, HMS Formidable, Operation Torch, 1942;

• Mk.IV, FN296/A, 892 NAS, HMS Archer;

• Mk.V, JV338/S-X, 882 NAS, HMS Searcher, 1944;

• Mk.V, JV377/6-C, 822 NAS, HMS Scorcher, 1944;

• Mk.V, JV381/Y3-Q, 759 NAS, RNAS Yeovilton, 1945;

• Mk.V, JV406/P, 881 NAS, HMS Persuer, 1944;

• Mk.V, JV435/S, 890 NAS, HMS Atheling, 1945;

• Mk.V, serial unknown/D, 1832 NAS, RNAS Eglington, with D-Day stripes, 1944.

This is a superbly produced set of decals. It provides some interesting and appealing options for the Wildcat Mks.IV & V in FAA service.
