USS Nimitz Part One |

Heller's 1/72 scale CL-415 is available online from Squadron.com
After years of waiting here is the end of the 1/72 scale reconstruction of a part of the Nimitz aircraft carrier bridge in 1982.
I based build on a photo in an old issue of the magazine AEREI from July / August 1983.
The bridge is completely scratch-built based on a wooden base on which the panels were engraved. Brengun's tie down points were then applied after practicing more than 500 holes!

The deck is also scratch-built and posed open for the F-14 Tomcat takeoff.
It was the time when grey camouflage took over from the typical White / Gray US Navy colours..
The planes over the years with different colors are: 2 F-14 Tomcat, 2 A-7E Corsair, 1 A-6 Intruder, 1 S-3A Viking, 1 E-2C Hawkeye.
The deck crew have been modified from recent Hasegawa's and older Airfix figurines.
The dimension of the bridge section is 120 x 40 cm. I hope the vision is to your liking... I enjoyed the project.
