Fündekals is pleased to announce our new 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I project, just in time for the amazing new Tamiya kit (or any other kit you want to use them on). Covering no less than 22 different subject aircraft, several with alternative appearances for various times. The subjects cover the period from the first kills of the war in October 1939 through the end of the Mk.I’s service life in 1941. This was a period of dizzying change in RAF markings and camouflage, and our reserach has uncovered some really amazing variations, some not seen before in decal form.
We have found aircraft with “nose art”, also never before seen in decal form. As usual, we started out by throwing out everything we “knew” about these subjects and started afresh with our research based on original source material. We were surprised at some of the things we found, some of which fly in the face of long accepted “fact”, and we’re sure you’ll find it interesting as well!
The sheet features the unique markings for each aircraft, and a selection of the various sizes and styles of “standard” roundels and fin flashes, plus a set of airframe stenciils for the early black/white/aluminum lower surface scheme as well as the later Sky belly.
The unique story of each of these aircraft will accompany, in the form of our freely downloadable instruction manual PDF. We’re still working on that, but it’s likely to significantly top our 49 page F4U “Whistling Death” instruction manual in size! We hope you’ll find these stories as compelling as we do, and that you’ll want to build every one of them!
Coming in early 2019.
