Italeri's 1/48 scale
Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib

Hobby Boss' 1/32 Spitfire Mk.Vb Trop is available online from Squadron
Here is my Italeri (Hasegawa sprues re-boxed) 1/48 scale Hawker Typhoon.
The model was built out of the box except for a piece of guitar string for the whip antenna and some copper wire for rocket motor igniters.

The kit had a horrible wing root gap which was a bit of an effort and other than a bit of a fit issue with the fuselage inserts it was quiet nice to build.
I painted it with a mixture of Vallejo/Lifecolor, depending on my stock level and the invasion stripes are painted on. I corrected this aircraft’s serial number found various conflicting references to the colour of it’s spinner/propeller blade count and settled with the kit option.

I really like the Typhoon and its muscular presence. Its story of a transition from an unloved dog to a highly valuable asset and the brave men who flew them always leaves me in awe.

Now, onto the next one!
