Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I Early Version |
I have just finihed building both kits included in the new Eduard 1:48 scale Spitfire Story package.

I have built one as an early Mk.I and the other has been converted to a Mk.IIa.
Here is my early Mk.I.

This model is built almost straight from the box using all the early options - two-blade Watts propeller, un-armoured windscreen, flat canopy, ring-and-bead gunsight, narrow aerial mast, twin-prong pitot tube etc.

The only aftermarket item was an ancient set of Modeldecal decals for the fuselage codes. The only other enhancement was sanding a flat spot on each of the tyres.
Assembly was a pleasure. If you've built any of Eduard's 1:48 scale Spitfire Mk.VIII, IX or XVI releases you will know what to expect.
Excellent detail, great fit, world-leading surface texture - these are terrific kits. Grab the Spitfire Story package while you can!

I’ll be writing this one up for a detailed article in Issue 111 of Military Illustrated Modeller magazine.
Thanks to Eduard for the sample.
