The SUU-30A/B was a general-purpose submunition dispenser that didn't release its payload while remaining attached to the delivery aircraft. Instead it was dropped as a whole and opened later in flight.

The SUU-30 series was used in service from the 1970s to the 1990s. Its body consisted of two halves, which opened in a clamshell fashion and dispersed the submunitions at a certain time after release from the aircraft. The dispenser was fitted with four cruciform tailfins.

Typically, the SUU-30 carried a payload of Cluster Bomb Units.

The SUU-30A/B was part of a family of US dispensers carried by a range of post WWII and modern aircraft including the A-7, A-10, F-4, F-5, F-16, F-111 and B-52G.

Eduard has released an SUU-30B Early set comprising four dispensers to supplement their SUU-30A/B set from last year.

Thi BRASSIN set is made up from eight pieces in grey resin and 20 photo-etched parts. A decal sheet is also included.

The resin is crisply detailed and perfectly cast.

The fuse is a separate part.

The bomb bodies are cast onto a small block at the base. Removal of the block and cleanup should be fast and easy.

The photo-etched parts are the fins and the tail cap for the four dispensers. The resin bodies are cast with a positive recessed locating slot for the photo-etched fins.

The decals provide stencil markings.

Instructions are straightforward, as you would expect for such a small parts count.

This crisply detailed SUU-30B Early dispenser set will be a useful accessory for your 1/48 scale A-7, A-10, F-4, F-5, F-16, F-111 and B-52G kits.
