Fokker Dr.I
by Valter Vaudagna
This is my Fokker Dr.I ..564/17 of Second Lieutenant Werner Steinhauser, Jasta 11, April 1918, Cappy.
Revell 1/28 starting model. 'All the interiors of the fuselage, tubular structure, seat, pedals, joystick, instruments, petrol tank and various control cables have been rebuilt on the model. the various reconstructions were made with plasticard, cables and metal wires (copper and brass).
Externally the ailerons of the upper wing were corrected, as those in the kit represent those of the prototypes. the propeller was rebuilt with wooden strips, glued overlapping and then shaped with files and abrasive papers, once finished, it was painted with glossy Humbrol enamel paint.
The part under the wings and belly was painted with the classic blue, typical of the Fokker Dr l, using 65 humbrol lightened with semi-gloss white.
The upper and side camouflage with irregular stripes was created with a brush using humbrol 155 olive drab on a linen colored base, recreated with a mixture of Gunze acrylic colours. the colors of the tail plane and the fuselage band, red and yellow, are always Gunze acrylic colours, as are the red and white parts. the signs are painted, after masking with TAMIYA tape. I think I got a decent result from this kit, dated 1972.
Good modeling!
