Part 6 Update Set
On Target Decals
Air-Graphic Models, 1/72 scale
Reviewed by Graham Carter
Presented in the familiar tight-fitting zip-lock clear sleeve the set consists of a 16-page A5 coloured instruction booklet and a trio of decal sheets. All decals are beautifully printed with a gloss finish with excellent register and density and are thankfully printed on mid-blue backing so that the paler markings can be easily identified.
A useful recent addition to this company’s products is a Paint card which lists all of the relevant colours by FS number, name and then tin/jar number for the equivalent paint from Humbrol, Xtracolour, Hataka, Modelmaster, Gunze Sangyo, Tamiya and Lifecolor, a great idea I reckon.
The last two pages of the booklet contains a number of colour photos of the subjects which is a good idea and I am delighted to see that these are now printed in a size that makes them very useful - thank you Air-Graphics.
The final pages also include some excellent guidelines for decal application, including a couple of warnings about the types of solvents to use. Another page lists all of the Air-Graphics accessories that could be used to enhance models of these aircraft.
The subjects are as follows:
-
Italian Navy McDonnell-Douglas AV-8B+ Harrier 30th Anniversary Splinter Scheme
-
Spanish Navy AV-8B+ Harrier/Matador RIAT 2023 Special
-
Italian Air Force HH-101A Caesar RIAT 2023 (New colour scheme)
-
Greek Navy S-70B-6 Aegean Hawk
-
Royal Australian Navy SH-2G(A) Seasprite 805 Squadron
-
Singapore Air Force F-16D Peace Canvin II Special Scheme
-
Italian Air Force Eurofighter EF2000 4 Stormo Blue Tail Special
-
German Air Force Panavia Tornado IDS AG52 Tiger Meet 2002 Winter Scheme
-
Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet 401 Squadron 2019 Special Scheme at Cold Lake, Alberta
Most of the aircraft are carrying special schemes and the decals cater for these, the amazing tail decorations are particularly well printed and will enhance any model.
The winter stripes on the Tornado are provided as decals and will add a great colour scheme to your collection.
These are an excellent selection of schemes for the aficionado of modern aircraft around the planet and are highly recommended.
Thanks to Air-Graphic Models for the sample.
