Hussar has been around since 2017 but have been mainly concentrating on books, 1/35 resin AFV accessories and larger scale decals. Judging by the product number this sheet is their third 1/72 release. Its quality continues that set in the sheet I reviewed a couple of months ago.

 

 

The sheet comes in the standard zip-lock clear bag and consists of just a 180x130mm sheet and a single A5 double-sided colour decal placement sheet - no information about the subjects, company or decal application. The three subjects are different versions of the Lancaster and there are sufficient generic markings for one of them. Colour density, register and lack of carrier film are excellent and on a mid-blue backing sheet that makes finding pales markings easy.  

 

 

The three choices are all in the standard night bomber scheme of Dark Green/Dark Earth over Night, and are:

  1. B.II, LL636, EQ-G of 408 Canadian Sqn, Linton-on Ouse in June 1944 with the radials and extended bomb-bay which includes the ventral gun placement, adorned with a large squadron badge on the nose,

  2. B.III, LM378, PG-J , of 69 Sqn, Dunholme Lodge, in April 1944,  with a skeleton on the port nose, and

  3. B.I RF141, “Uncle Joe Again” of 462 Australian Sqn, Skellingthorpe early in 1945.This one of the planes with the later yellow-bordered codes, and is an attractive finish.

It is particularly nice to see another set for the B.II variant, but I would have liked some information about the aircraft themselves. Despite this, the sheet comes highly recommended for its quality and variety.

 

 

Conclusion

 

A good set of choices for this iconic WWII aeroplane, quality decals and is recommended to modellers interested in this aircraft during its service with RAF, Canadian and Australian squadrons.
