Plastic Model Canada has sent two of their new Model Building Fixtures for review.
Today I am examining the Air M Model.
This is a jig with a cruciform base size of approximately 18.5 cm x 16 cm.
It appears to be 3d printed, and the jig is supplied in five separate sub-assemblies. Four bright green rubber bands are also included to hold parts in place on the jig.
Instructions were not included in my samples but I eventually figured it out after looking at images of the completed jig on Plastic Model Canada's website.
Assembly of the jig was fairly fast and straightforward, but do be careful when removing the nuts and washers - they are small and could easily be swallowed up forever by the carpet monster. A couple of spare nuts and washers would be helpful.
The jig looks like it will most comfortably accommodate 1/48 scale WWII single engine fighters.
The long arms will fit the fuselage.
The jig will adjust for height and length.
The shorter arms are designed for the wings. Each side features a square multiple clamp to hold a single wing or a pair of biplane wiings.
These may be adjusted for height, span, tilt and more.
The jig will be very useful for setting dishedral, aligning biplane wings, safe handling during assembly and transport of completed models.
