Classic Airframes' 1/48 scale "Derek Pennington Edition" de Havilland Venom is shipping to distributors, so it should be on the hobby shop shelves soon. HyperScale's own Derek Pennington helped out with the research on this one.

We have a new topic on Theme Pics, "The Augsburg Eagle - Messerschmitt Bf 109". Willy Messerschmitt's fighter must rate as one of the most popular modelling subjects of all time, so let's see some of yours. They can be prototypes, Spanish Civil War veterans, WWII combatants or even post-war derivatives. 30,000 Bf 109s were manufactured - let's see how close we come to that number with your model submissions!

For those to whom it is relevant, I wish you a safe and peaceful Easter break.

I am very pleased to announce the launch of our new HyperScale Resource Guide to Building the Avro Lancaster in 1/72 scale. This is a 24 page booklet with 67 images, including six profiles by Jerry Boucher. The Guide is entirely free to HyperScale's visitors.

The focus of this guide is Revell’s 1/72 scale Lancaster B.I / B.III, but there are also Chapters covering construction of the Airfix and Hasegawa kits for comparison. The downloadable PDF format will permit modelers to print the booklet and use it as a workbench reference while building your Lancaster.

Follow this link to the download page. I hope that you will enjoy the new HyperScale Resource Guide.

7 January, 2008

I have made the move from PC to Macintosh after several months of preparation. I have also swapped my old faithful Frontpage web publishing programme for Dreamweaver. I am sure that Dreamweaver is a fine programme, but it does seem to be more labour intensive than Frontpage, and it certainly represents a fairly steep learning curve. Even so, if you are reading this now it means that I have at least mastered the basics! In the long term, this new setup should be more stable and will allow me to offer more features and facilities for HyperScale's visitors. I will be posting several aircraft Galleries and Reviews in tomorrow's update.

Now that we have rung in the New Year, I am pleased to announce the new topic for HyperScale's Group Build Forum - "Century Series". You can choose any of the classic Century Series aircraft from the F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104, F-105, F-106, or F-111 plus any prototypes (e.g, XF-103, XF-107) and maybe even the F-110 for Rhino fans! Any model brand and any scale is welcome. This new Theme will run until 30 June 2008, so we will look forward to seeing plenty of classic Century Series models!

New Year's Day, 2008

Happy New Year to all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank HyperScale's visitors, contributors and sponsors. After ten years, HyperScale remains a lively, friendly and useful resource for modellers worldwide thanks to your ongoing participation both here on the webzine and on the Forums. I look forward to introducing some new initiatives, as well as carrying on with the old ones, during 2008.

New Year's Eve, 2007

We are having trouble with one of our servers at the moment, and all the sites on that server are off the air. These include Missing-Lynx and ScaleWorkshop. The hosting company is addressing this issue and we hope to have the sites back on the air as soon as possible. I apologise for the inconvenience.

We are in the final days of the current topic on the Group Build - "Gathering of Mustangs". It is still not too late for a final burst of activity - let's see some more finished Mustangs and classic Monogram kits before the New Year.

27 December, 2007

I have been doing a little more restructuring of the website over the last few days. All the content is still here, and all the Indexes have been brought up to date, but you if you have bookmarked any Features, Galleries or Reviews from 2007, you will have to revise them. You will be able to do this by adding /2007 after hyperscale.com in any 2007 content URL (for example, http://www.hyperscale.com/features/bf109g10erlaki_2.htm becomes http://www.hyperscale.com/2007/features/bf109g10erlaki_2.htm )

Boxing Day, 2007

We'll be back to regular updates tomorrow.
